Explanation and details of our project

Mindmaps

The first step in the creation of our application was to create mind maps around our theme: "Reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse".

We each created mind maps and reviewed them together: this is the final mindmap of our project:

You will find the link to our mindmap here.

This mindmap is the starting point of our project. It explores all the elements we thought about, that we talked about. It will allow you to retrace our thinking, and to understand its meaning. But above all, this mindmap allowed us to expose the problems, to find the solutions and thus to take stock of the problems without answers.

Project draft

We have therefore thought about our subject : programmed obsolescence.

We have turned this subject upside down to understand all the issues, problems and unexplored solutions.

This site is therefore a representation of our brainstorming, which we presented in a glitch project (linked below).

It will allow you to better understand our application, the reflection during its creation, its identity and our main objectives.

Here is a video if you want to know more about programmed obsolescence, the scourge of the consumer society.

Some definitions to understand our project - the scope and the issues more fully:
Programmed obsolescence:

Industrial strategy developed in post-war America to program a limited lifespan for a non-consumable product in order to increase the frequency of replacement.

Consumer society:

A society in which consumers are driven to consume in abundance.

Wireframe of our project

We then made a wireframe of our project. This allowed us to visualise what we wanted the application to look like. We were able to improve it, trying to maximise the customer experience for the first time.

As an indication, a wireframe is a diagram used when designing a website. It is a black and white model, composed of shapes and lines, to visualise the application to be created. Its purpose is to visualise the size of the elements, their place, etc.

Mockups and user tests

The next step in the development of our project was to create mock-ups from the wireframe we had defined. These mock-ups allowed us to demonstrate our concept, create an identity to easily get end-users feedbacks on the mock-ups we created. The mockups are a representation of what we would like our final project to look like.

We started from a basic, simplified version with only the main features of our concept. We have therefore submitted this version to potential users, with the aim of having comments and suggestions for improvement of this first version.

We have therefore taken into account user feedbacks and improved the mockup to meet the expectations of our potential users. These mockups therefore provide you with an explanation of what we expect our application to look like, how we want it organised and designed.

You will find the link to our user tests here.
